Roman Lob a 21 ans et nous vient de Berlin. Le jeune homme a 16 ans lorsqu’il tente sa chance à l’émission « Deutschland sucht den Superstar » l’équivalent allemand de la « Nouvelle Star ». Mais terrassé par une laryngite, il doit abandonner.

Il débute alors une formation de mécanicien en apprentissage, tout en chantant avec son groupe de rock alternatif « Rooftop Kingdom ».

En 2012, il saisit la chance qu’il lui est offerte de participer à l’émission « Unser Star für Baku » afin de succéder à Lena Meyer-Landrut pour représenter l’Allemagne. Après un parcours sans faute, il parvient en finale et se trouve en position de favori pour remporter la victoire.
